What Celebrities Died from a Drug Overdose?

Addiction is a complex disease – one that affects men and women of every age and in every demographic, and one that certainly does not discriminate. When people think of addiction they might think of a downtrodden drug addict, begging for loose change in an alleyway.

The truth is that there are many “functional” addicts – men and women who struggle with addiction and hide their struggles exceedingly well from the outside world. There is a specific demographic that tends to hide their struggles with addiction very well from the public eye, even though every single move they make is under widespread scrutiny.

Celebrity Deaths Due to Drug Overdoses

You guessed it – celebrities. As the stigma surrounding addiction has begun to gradually lift, more and more celebrities are coming forward about their struggles with substance abuse and dependence. We have all heard incredibly inspiring stories of triumph in the news – Brad Pitt overcoming alcoholism, Demi Lovato recovering from a drug overdose and getting back on the wagon, Robert Downey Jr. celebrating multiple years of recovery.

Unfortunately, some celebrities are not so lucky. Over the years, countless celebrities have lost their lives to drug abuse and addiction. As we take a look at some of the less fortunate celebrities, keep in mind that recovery is always possible – no matter how far down the scale you have gone.
